I have missed Trinity's last service (Watchnight Service) of 2008 as well as the first service of the 2009. Well I presume like in the past, it will be messages on giving thanks to what God has done for 2008 and ending 2008 strong, and stepping forward in faith for 2009. How I wish I was in this 2 service (side wish), at least I could pray & worship in the presence of my loving Father, and hear personally from Him what He has for me for 2009. As you know I was in Korea, everyday sleep late so tired to pray.
I thought I have missed 2 small important moments. Well who knows, Father surprises me once again. He is such loving Father, He knows what's important for me. He knows how to loves me in the simplest yet amazing way. He know what were the words I needed to hear.
While at work today I was rather bored, so I decided to go to my blog and listen to any christian channel. Somehow I was prompted to click on City Harvest Church website, they have a free online sermon. Without a thought I clicked on *Rev Tan Ye Peng's chinese sermon 不要回头看{Don't Look Back}.
(must hv Quick time to view it).
[*one of my most admired pastor, he can preach in both mandarin & english. Handsome, smart with charisma. Seldom you will hear man giving good comments on another man, unless he is well respected.]
Unknowingly I carry over my hurts in 2008 into 2009. During my Korea trip, my mind in the middle of the night would wonder into the past. Asking alot of whys? And how could this be made whole for both sides? (No matter who started it, both side will still be hurt.) I'm sorry to say I purposely got myself drunk every night at least to numb myself to sleep.
Don't look back. Just a simple 3 words title (5 for chinese), it can fully summarise what Father was trying to encourage me. God really use the simplest of things to confound the wise. No matter how many 10 yrs series counselling tag lines has been used on me, it never move me. Father is really amazing, just 3 simple words it actually move my heart a little. Father wants me to look forward, focusing on Him and not looking at the past. Besides no matter how much I think & tried, it will never be the best/perfect way.
Thank you Father.
Thank you for loving me the way I desire to be loved.
God use Pastor Tan's sermon to speak to me. You should try listening to the whole sermon.
In summary;
1. Don't look back at the old sins that were already forgiven.
-Isa 43:25 I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more.
2. Don't look back at the old defeats that get you down.
-Champions are not people who never fails.
-Champions are people who never quits.
3. Don't look back at old conflicts that make you bitter.
-Don't nurse it, don't curse it, don't rehearse it.
-Release it and God will disperse it.
4. Don't look back at old victories and think you have arrived.
-Phil 3:13-14
