Just a summary of my job, I'm working as a Buyer (Purchaser) in a US MNC manufacturing firm. Basically my job is to ensure that there is parts be on the production floor.
On 5-Dec-2008, supplier send in some parts, one particular part#HPMCC682-00081 was being send in without any supporting document (ie:Delivery Order-DO). Unknowingly store warehouse went to accept it in. By right no parts can be accepted without DO.
On the 12-Dec-2008, supplier send in the replacement DO for the part#HPMCC682-00081. Same thing unknowingly I sign on the DO without verifying physically the part. I went to store to request if they have this part, but they say they couldn't locate it.
Therefore I then put the blame on the supplier, for sending in DO without the part. Supplier bite on the fact that since have sign on the DO, it means that physically it had already be delivered & accepted.
To cut this story short, I continue to "argue" with supplier & subsequently requested store to try to locate this "missing" part. It was till no avail. Till a point in time of following up, I have gradually forgotten about this case.
2 months later, this case surface again as production now shouts there is shortage of this part. I was completely at a lost. It's has been 2 months, and it can be the fault of anyone. Yet in the obvious sense, I am the fault at fault because I did no do a good work in following up.
Because of the missing part, it took up substantial time away from my main work. Therefore I stayed back that day for OT, to settle some other stuffs. I was rather upset that this issue took place. Before I went back home, I laid hand on the Delivery Order-DO.
I said; "Father help me to solve this."
Haha without even saying thank you, sorry Father.
The next morning (which is this morning), I received a call this morning, to inform me that the part was indeed been received, and it was all along kept in a secluded corner of the warehouse.
I was shocked in the first place, how on earth could the part been found? I need to clarify that only 5 pcs of the part is missing, and my warehouse is very very big. For 2 months, its has been there no one sounds out that this is an extra part (ie: have not transact in our system for tracking). And it suddenly just pop up in the eyes of my production people.
Haha, if this is not God, the who.
I drag this issues for 2 months, an obviously it couldn't be solve. In worst case scenarios, my company may fail to make shipment due to this 5 parts.
What I couldn't solve for 2 months, God solve it for me in one night.
