Life partner

Had a short chat with a secondary school friend, who recently had a traditional marriage. They have already ROM for almost a year though. I asked her how is her married life. Well she told me that she & her husband are still learning. Yes I very much agree with her. Which couple does not have disagreement? Which couple never quarrel?

While chatting with her I was on youtube too, and so happens I bump into this Hokkien song about husband & wife. Lyrics were very well written. Have you seen the singapore movie "Money No Enough 2"? One of the side story in this movie surrounds on the life of 3 couples, and how their wife stick to their husband through all thick & thin in life.
The back ground music was this song; "kei1 Aw1" .
In chinese Jia1 Hou4, translate into english its "Wife" or you can say "Life Partner".

Alot of people says that Hokkien is a rough language. But I find that Hokkien is almost like hebrews. If you can understand the chinese dialect Hokkien, you will realise that it carries a strong meaning, but when translated, the true meaning somehow dissipates.

The lyrics of this song is really well written. It sings about the reality of relationships and sticking with each other through all good & bad times in life. Feelings comes & goes, it's never easy to maintain the lovely dovely feeling through out the marriage journey. In fact it is impossible. I guess in any relationship it ultimately boils down to individual choice. From the begining you made the choice to love him/her, then came the choice to be married. Yes rich or poor, in health or sickness. Feelings comes & goes, looks & beauty will flee in a matter of time. No matter what happens both must make a resolute choice to stick by each other.

Well I know not many can appreciate hokkien music. Anyway my hokkien is not that good either. I have tried my best to translate the lyrics.
(very hard to translate in it's full meaning.)

钱不够用2插曲 - 家后

Verse 1
One day when we are both aged
No longer surrounded by friends
You'll still have me seating by your side
Listening to your glorious younger days

Regardless of how good or tough life may be
No one is to be blame
I'll hold on tightly to your hands
Because I am your life partner

(chorus)
I have married my youth to you
Since young I have been faithful to you
The world holds no meaning to me
No one else is more important than you

I have married my whole life to you
Realising that even argument & conflicts are part of a happy marriage

When it's time for us to leave this world
May you be the first to leave
Because I really can't bear to see you in tears for me
(end chorus)

Verse 2
One day when we are both aged
Surround by daughter in law & grandchildren
If you are bored, do take a look at our photos
Reminiscing on our wedding day, how handsome you were

Irregardless of what we are wearing, poor or rich
No one is to be blame
I will always remember you in my heart
Because I am your life partner
